New York Yankees' Losing Streak Reaches Double Digits

Five-Game Skid Ends with a Thud

The St. Louis Cardinals extended their season-long winning streak to five games and handed the New York Yankees their 10th straight loss. The Yankees have now lost 18 of their last 22 games and are 15-27 since July 9.

The Cardinals scored three runs in the first inning off Yankees starter Luis Severino. Severino allowed four runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings. He struck out five and walked two.

The Cardinals added two more runs in the fourth inning off reliever Adam Ottavino. Ottavino allowed two runs on three hits in 1 2/3 innings.

The Yankees only managed one run off Cardinals starter Jack Flaherty. Flaherty allowed one run on four hits in 6 1/3 innings. He struck out eight and walked one.

The Cardinals bullpen finished off the game by allowing just one hit in 2 2/3 innings.

The Yankees will try to avoid a three-game sweep when they face the Cardinals on Thursday night.

The Yankees will return home to face the Texas Rangers on Friday night. The Cardinals will travel to Milwaukee to face the Brewers on Friday night.
