Early Life and Education

Rahul Gandhi was born on June 19, 1970, in Delhi, India. He is the son of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, who is the current President of the Indian National Congress. Gandhi attended Doon School in Dehradun, Welham Boys' School in Dehradun, and Trinity College, Cambridge, where he studied History.

Political Career

Gandhi entered politics in 2004, when he was elected to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament, from the Amethi constituency in Uttar Pradesh. He was appointed General Secretary of the Indian National Congress in 2007 and served in that role until 2017. In December 2017, he was elected President of the Indian National Congress, a position he held until July 2019.

Gandhi has been a vocal critic of the current Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has campaigned on issues such as poverty, unemployment, and corruption. In 2019, he led the Congress party to its worst-ever defeat in the Lok Sabha elections.

Personal Life

Gandhi is married to Priyanka Vadra, the daughter of Sonia Gandhi's brother, Rajiv Vadra. They have two children, a daughter, Miraya, and a son, Raihan.
